Rename File

I have a text file (*.txt) created from a DTS Package. I need to change the
file name after it is created to add the current timestamp in the file name
(i.e. date and time).
Ex: The filename is 'Myfile.txt' and I need to make it 'Myfile0506051022.txt
'
Is there a way I can do this ?. T-SQL syntax from DTS package ?

so you already know the path the the file and the name of the file. you just
need to create a varchar with the correct formatted date/time in the name
and pass the entire rename/move command to xp_cmdshell just like from dos.

and pass the entire rename/move command to xp_cmdshell just like from dos.

removing logs

I have over 200 log files with a date and timestamp in the filename in the
Reporting Services\LogFiles folder that are 33MB each. This is a development
machine. How do I get rid of them? Can I just delete them?

Dan D.You can delete, it creates again, but I dont think you require this much log
files for your development server. For production yes you need to have a
backup. Before deleting keep a backup or Zip all the log files and keep it in
a seperate place.
If it is so important, you can run a program which is available in the
samples to read the log files and reporting.
and ofcourse schedule it to remove. default it keeps it for 60 days.

small, under 50K. I don't know what was in the files that were so large.

Removing Backups

Hello,
We do our own backups i.e.
Where filename is the name of the database with a
timestamp.
EXEC sp_addumpdevice 'disk', @.FileName, @.Filename.
Backup database ParisTestProduction to @.FileName.
Is there a safe way to remove the backup history and file,
or will I need to write one.
BTW we cannot use the 'Database Maintenance Plan'
